Services
Life Stream provides the following programs for people with an intellectual disability:

Life Stream General Program Brochure

Leisure - (16 years +) A range of fun, exciting and safe outings are offered. Groups attend sporting events, visit restaurants, go bushwalking, bike riding and many more activities.

Lifestyle - (16 years +) A variety of recreation programs are offered to provide ongoing skills development. Groups meet in a well supervised and supportive environment. Some of the more popular lifestyle programs are cooking and fitness

Sport - Weekend Sports (10 years +) Sports programs are offered, some on a regular basis and others on a short term or come and try basis. Some of the regular programs include Indoor Cricket and Indoor Soccer.
Junior Sports Programs for Schools (school children)
In conjunction with sporting organisations programs are offered through schools. Some of the more popular are Broncos, AFL, basketball, indoor cricket.

Readi-Teens - Programs for 12 - 16 years only. These activities are specifically designed to meet the needs of Life Steam members in the teenage bracket.

Holidays - Life Streams very popular holidays have seen groups travel to all parts of Australia and the World. Recent trips included USA, Africa, Fiji, Greek Islands.

Individualised Programs - Recreation Access (16 years +)
Adults with high support needs are offered ongoing individual support to participate in community based recreation activities.
Recreation Development (16 years +)
Individuals are supported to develop the skills necessary to pursue their chosen recreation interests independently. These skills may include money handling, travelling or skills required for the specific type of recreation.

Elite Athlete Support- All people wishing to compete as an athlete with an intellectual impairment must complete the appropriate eligibility forms and attach the required supporting documentation.

In Queensland there are three different ways an athlete can pursue to obtain classification;

  • Temporary Classification- Queensland School Sport (for school aged athletes only)Life Stream Foundation in partnership with Queensland School Sport- Disability Sport Committee provides a FREE classification service to school aged athletes with an intellectual disability.Click here for Temporary Classification form

Life Stream Foundation works in conjunction with the National body AUSRAPID (Australian Sport and Recreation Association for Persons with Intergration Difficulties) to support Queenslander's to process their eligibility as an athlete with an intellectual disability. The forms are processed by AUSRAPID, but Life Stream can assist individuals in obtaining the necessary documentation, or orgainse the relevant tests involved to support their application. There is a fee of $30.00 which must accompany the application. Once the form has been processed, you will be a registered memeber of AUSRAPID and you will also recieve reciprocal membership with Life Stream Foundation.

Elite athletes who are members of Life Stream/AUSRAPID will receive Life Stream's quarterly programme guide and an Elite Spirit newsletter containing a calendar of upcoming events, competitions and access to nomination forms and any other relevant information relating to competition.

  • INAS-FID Classification- International Sports Federation for Persons with Intellectual Disability is the peak international sporting body. This eligibility form is required for all athletes that compete in a sport that is contested at an international level (even if that person is not competing internationally at that time.) Life Stream can assist Queenslanders in obtaining the necessary documentation to support their applications. All applications must be verified by AUSRAPID and sent off to INAS-FID for processing. Community Education - Life Stream Foundation can prepare and deliver a one-off or series of presentations, workshops or training sessions to assist the community in:

·        Understanding Life Stream Foundation as an organisation and its’ services
·        Disability awareness
·        Disability specific information
·        Coaching athletes with an intellectual disability 

Life Stream delivers such presentations to various groups including:

·        Corporate partners
·        State sporting organisation
·        Disability agencies
·        Community organisations
·        Schools & tertiary education institutions

Life Stream can adapt existing presentations to meet the specific needs of the target audience. Sessions can be conducted at Life Stream Foundation, or in many cases we are happy to travel to your organisation. Most of these sessions are run free of charge.

Special Events - Special Events are conducted from time to time. Some of the regular events are Sport and Recreation Festival, X-Stream Dance Party, and Christmas Party.
